Empowering Youths through Agriculture...

Governor Okezie has assured that his Government will continue to invest in Agriculture to further improve in the area of food production while creating jobs for the citizens of the state through Agriculture.

The Governor stated this through his Senior special assistant on Agriculture Hon. Obinna Ibiam at the Foundation laying ceremony of the Youths Modern Mechanise Farm Settlement and Agro Industrial Cluster in Abia state through the Youths Employment in Agricultural Programs.



The Governor , who believes in the potentials of Abia youths, is determined to see Abia State grow beyond oil.

Abia State Government in collaboration with the  Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Microfinance Bank Ltd, Abia State Government Flagged off Creation of 3000 jobs through Agriculture.

Abia Youths Employment in Agricultural Programs will see Abia youths engage in different areas of Agriculture. Already, 10,000 Hectares of Land has been made available by the 1st Deputy Chairman Traditional Rulers Council Abia State Eze G C Chionye PhD. for the programme ranging from crop production, fish farming, poultry, food processing etc.

Training will commence on 8th of May in Umuahia North LGA, then to  Obingwa LGA followed by Bende LGA.

The target is to train and empower 200 youths in each LGA.

Training and Empowering 3000 unemployed youths, thereby creating over 3000 jobs to eradicate hunger, unemployment, Youths restiveness and insurgency, to boost the productivity of farmers, enhance the internally generated revenue and encourage Exportation of different International Standard Food Commodities from our dear state are the benefits.

To take dvantage of the opportunity, You are required to come along with a utility bill, Identity card or Voters Card, 2 passports photograph and a sum of #2000 only for  account opening at the Michael Okpara University Micro finance bank.
