Lagos Holds Workshop on Processing Development Permits

The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), has organised a Three-Day Workshop, themed “EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT PROCESSING OF DEVELOPMENT PERMITS IN LAGOS STATE: THE ROLE OF TOWN PLANNERS, ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS AND TECHNOLOGISTS” for Town Planners, Architects, Engineers and Technologists in the State Government employ to expatiate on the strategies needed for speedy processing of Development Permits in the State.

Speaking at the workshop held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, PSSDC, Magodo, the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Abiola W. Anifowoshe emphasized the need for all the stakeholders to see themselves as partners in the development of the built industry.


The Commissioner pointed out that the participants must imbibe a conscientious working attitude to review the systematic decay in order to establish a well developed built environment by reshaping the environment through proper planning, design, development, maintenance and provision of sustainable and suitable shelter for all.

According to him, “The establishment of a well developed built environment in all facets of life will not only be beneficial to the public, but will go a long way to improve our standard of living thereby enhancing the economy of the State in particular and the Nation in general”.

Also speaking at the workshop, the General Manager of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA, Tpl. Toyin Abdul said that the workshop is coming at a time that there is a greater need for evolving more strategies to meet the growing demand for processing of development permits speedily without leaving any stone unturned.

He reiterated that “the future of Lagos is paramount to all, so the desire to cater for the planning needs of the populace is of outmost concern to all and it is a task that we all must strictly adhere to without any fear”.

In her own remark, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas enjoined all the participants to put to good use the lessons learnt at the workshop for the benefit of the State and all Lagosians.
